Planning Approved/On Site March 2016
Located on a quiet country lane, the existing site provided a modest bungalow with fantastic views of the Leicestershire countryside.
The initial brief sought to create a family home, which was light, bright, spacious, modern and took advantage of the views, whilst improving the location of the dwelling on the site. Internally, the brief sought to create a house that would be flexible to meet the needs of the occupants both now and the future.
The layout creates a striking feature hallway with a number of living spaces. The configuration of the main living spaces with good proportions create the main element of the house and tried to blur the boundaries between inside and outside.
The 6 double sized bedrooms, some with balconies capture the views they require at an elevated level. The property also acts as a great property to entertain with the flexible spaces, games room and cinema room.
Materially the dwelling is intended to have limited palette of materials, reflecting the surrounding area, comprising of render, timer and natural stone. It was felt that a modern approach to the property was appropriate, however key influences have been taken from the surrounding area as a result a high quality, sustainable and complimentary building will be added to the area.
